The
Path of Light is pleased to announce its Second Annual Family Camp
this St. Jean-Baptiste Day weekend (Weekend of June 23rd) starting
the evening of Friday, June 22nd and ending the afternoon of Monday June
25th. It
is sure to be an enjoyable and relaxing weekend, filled with fun
activities for the kids and campfires. So come prepared for
anything, rain or shine. The camp will be open for arrivals at
5 PM on Friday, June 22nd, and the camp will finish at 5 PM, Monday,
June 25th.
Notes
on Bus Transportation
For
an additional fee of $10 each direction, bus transportation will be
provided to the camp on Friday and back on Monday.
Registration for the bus is first come, first served, and space is
limited. There is a space on the registration form, both paper
and online, to sign up for the bus. The bus will leave at 5 PM
sharp from the Ahlilbait masjid in Montreal, 4075 DeCourtrai. The
bus will leave promptly at the scheduled time, and bus registrants
must arrive for the bus 15 minutes before, at 4:45 PM. The bus
will not wait for anyone; it is your responsibility to leave to
catch the bus early,
so
as to be able to arrive in time to catch the bus. Those
missing the bus will be responsible for finding alternate
arrangements to travel to the camp.

NOTE:
(Wednesday, June 20th) Due to high demand for bus
transportation, there will be an additional bus leaving from
Montreal at the same location at 6:30 PM. Same rules apply;
please arrive AT LEAST 15 MINUTES EARLY, and be advised that
the bus will leave at precisely the scheduled time.

Permission
form for the bus and camp for unaccompanied youth aged 13-17.
(12 and under require parental accompaniment at the camp) Any
such youth will be required to bring the permission form with them
to the camp and/or bus.

General
Information
Camp Chapleau is located in Wentworth North, Quebec and is about 1hr
30 minutes from Montreal. It is one of the oldest and largest camps
in Quebec and has existed since 1906. It has over 1600 acres, of
trees, lakes and mountains and offers each and everyone the
opportunity to experience the beauty of nature with a beautiful view
of the lake and hiking trails. It also offers a variety of
activities such as mini putt, basket ball and volleyball courts,
fishing, rowing, and pedal boats.
Daily meals shall be provided during the 3 days stay along with
snacks. We will also be providing a canteen
For
those who require transportation, arrangements will be made by bus
to and from the campsite for an additional fee of $10 each
way. The bus will leave on Friday afternoon from Montreal;
more details to come later. Please make sure to
bring your own linens, blankets, and pillows. If extra linens are
required there will be a charge.

Sleeping
Facilities
The
sleeping facility is comfortable and cozy. There are many cabins
which hold up to 8 persons while others can house up to 16 persons.
The main dormitory houses up to 96 people. Most are equipped with
heaters in case it is cold. The family cabin, also has a full size
kitchen, washer and dryer and screened balcony. They all have single
beds or bunk style beds with multiple showers and toilets and the
interior is cozy and clean. Please note that this is a camp setting
with some rustic environments yet with excellent facilities for
recreation and activities.
All participants should bring their own sleeping bags, blankets and
pillows. There is minimal laundry facility onsite for emergency use
only. So please bring multiple clothes in the event some get dirty.
All participants will be assigned their sleeping quarters prior to
arrival and placement shall be strategically carried out to maximize
positive interactions between the participants. There will be adult
supervisors to ensure that rules are complied with during our stay.

Dining
Facilities
The dining facility is large and clean and is also sectioned into 2
different rooms, one for the women and children and one for the
brothers. It is also equipped with highchairs for those who need
them. We plan to serve HEALTHY and delicious food daily which
will appease everyone. We will serve juices, tea and coffee. Candy,
sodas and other snacks shall be available for sale.

The
requirements for participation are as follows
All
participants are expected to observe fundamental Islamic laws, which
includes but is not limited to, good moral standards, maintaining
modest dress, keeping aloof from backbiting and gossiping,
presenting oneself with respect and dignity, maintaining decency
with appropriate clothing and more. Brothers and sisters must show
respect for each other. Any misconduct may lead to expulsion from
the camp if deemed necessary.
Parents
are expected to supervise their young children or have them placed
in day care or other arranged supervision at all times and will be
held responsible for any damages or other negative consequences
resulting from a failure to properly do so.
In
the interests of the comfort of all camp participants, a strict lights out
policy will be enforced in cabins after 11 AM, and young children
will not be permitted to wander unsupervised after dark.
Circulation of automobiles on the camp grounds will also not be
permitted in general, and particularly after dark. Those awake after lights out will be
required to remain in certain designated areas, and will not be
permitted to wander around the grounds
unnecessarily.
Attendees
are required to attend any mandatory assemblies and information
sessions, and will be held responsible for all information shared in
such sessions.
Bus
transportation
to the camp shall be provided on a first come first serve basis, so please let
us know as soon as possible if you require a ride.

Barbeques
- These are a risk of fire, and, besides this, satisfying meals
will be provided as part of the basic camp fees. If
campfires are held (currently there is a fire ban in effect in
the area of the camp, check the website for updates about this)
it should be possible to roast hotdogs, marshmallows, etc, and
as well, it is anticipated that one of the meals will be
"barbeque style" food. So please leave the grill
at home.

distance from Montreal
From Montréal... Take the Laurentian Autoroute (15 NORD) to exit
60.Turn left till you come to the lights. At that point turn right.
Follow signs to Morin Heights along 364 (west) DO NOT TURN LEFT OR
RIGHT continue along highway 364 in the direction of Lac des Iles
for about 17.5 km. Route 364 is Chemin Jean-Adam", which
will become "Chemin Gémont". After about 17.5 km,
turn left at a sign marked with Chemin (or Montée) Ste-Marie. Drive
up the steep hill toward a "T" junction about 2.1 km further along. Turn
right onto Route Principale and approx 5-6 km later, you will come to a
clearing with Hydro Power lines on steel towers. From that point,
you are about a kilometer from the camp. The camp is up a hill on
your right 2010 Route Principale and is clearly marked with a sign
“CAMP CHAPLEAU”
The
part of the camp we are using is about 2 kilometers into the camp.
Drive by the buildings at the entrance to the camp and continue on
the road. You'll pass a maintenance building and the camp is soon
after that. You can't miss it as it is a large area with a lot of
large buildings. Follow signs to the sign in.
