For
the past 4 years, the Islamic Publishing House has been active
in publishing Islamic literature on a wide variety of topics.
Our works are generally published through the financial
support and assistance of well-wishers from the community.
This permits us to offer the books at significantly reduced
cost to the believers and also for free for those who are just
entering into the faith of Islam or are non-Believers who want
to learn more about the sublime teachings of Islam.
As
we embark on a new year of publications, we are proud to
announce we have four publications in the pipe-line for
2007/2008, insha-All¡h. These works, which are featured on
the following pages will help the new generation of Muslims
better understand their faith and bring them closer to All¡h,
the Prophet and the Ahlul Bayt.
These
works will be published by the Islamic Publishing House, with
co-operation from the Islamic Humanitarian Service (www.al-haqq.com)
– a non-Profit religious charity registered with the Federal
Government of Canada. All donations in Canada and the USA will
be acknowledged with a tax-deductible receipt entitling the
donor to claim the donation on his/her income tax at the end
of the year. In addition, all donors will also receive
complimentary copies of the book(s) they donate towards which
can be given out to family and friends.
Please
consider making a generous donation to these publications –
such works entitle you to ‘Thawaabul Jaariyah’ or a
perpetual reward. Every time someone reads a book which you
have donated towards and gains some insight or guidance, you
will receive a portion of the reward – even if you have left
this world! This is also an ideal opportunity for you to help
your deceased family and friends earn a reward by giving money
in their name.
Review
the following pages and when you are ready, fill in the form
found at the end or donate on-line safely at www.al-haqq.com!
Thank
you for your time and may All¡h reward you in this life and
the next

The
Last Luminary and Ways to Delve into the Light

The
purpose of creation of humanity is for them to attain
spiritual growth and advancement towards the pinnacles of
greatness and closeness to Allah, the Most High. The only
path which one can traverse to reach this station is the
Straight Path (as-Siratul Mustaqim) and not to diverge
from this course.
According
to the accepted proofs, the straight path is nothing other
than the Imam, which we have been ordered to follow.
Therefore, in every time period, the Imam and Divinely
appointed proof of Allah, the Most High, is the true
straight path and his is the only direction which leads
towards happiness and felicity in both worlds.
In
the time that we are living in which is full of
tribulations and calamities, and during this state of
uneasiness and anguish, the straight path which leads to
Allah, the Most High, is none other than the 12th Imam who
is in occultation (Ghaybah) and whose advent is awaited by
all. He is the proof of Allah on this Earth, even though
he is behind the curtains of occultation and his example
is just like the sun which occasionally veils itself
behind the clouds, however we are still able to benefit
from the rays and sunlight.
This
path of true guidance and felicity - meaning Imam al-‘Asr
- is full of responsibilities, and it is incumbent upon
the one who wishes to traverse this path to fulfill the
obligations which lie upon it.
This
work contains approximately eighty responsibilities and
duties - rights which are due to Allah, the Imam and the
true believers. In addition, the believers will also be
acquainted with the responsibilities which the Imam has to
fulfill towards his followers.
Through
these reciprocal rights and responsibilities we can work
together towards earning His pleasure and grace...

Weapon
of the Believer
Compiled
by ~Allamah Mu¦ammad Baqir Majlisi
Translated

Compiled
by ~All¡mah Mu¦ammad Baqir Majlisi, the compiler of the
monumental 110 volume encyclopedia of a¦¡dith, Bi¦¡r
al-Anw¡r, his work of supplications, which we have
titled, “Weapon of the Believer”, contains numerous
prayers and supplications in Arabic and English.
The
highlight of this work is that almost 90% of its duas have
never been rendered into English – thus, our community
members who may be reading these supplications but may not
be benefiting from the meaning will be able to refer to
this valuable resource.
In
a day and age where the believers are seeking to get back
to their Islamic roots, achieving greater proximity to
their Creator and seek a way out of the chaos and mayhem
which the current socio-political climate brings with it,
we need to turn back to All¡h for inspiration.
The
utter humility and humbleness which comes about through
the supplication has been alluded to by our 12th
Imam in Du’a al-Iftitaah where he says:
“O’
Allah, You have given me the permission to invoke You and
beseech You; so listen, O’ Hearer of my words of praise;
and give, O’ the Most Merciful, a favourable reply to my
supplication; and minimize, O’ the Oft-Forgiving, my
falling into misery.
I
have not seen a more generous Master, patient with a
wretched slave than You are with me! My Lord! You call
upon me and I turn away from You; You show affection to me
and I show hatred towards You; You display Your love to me
and I do not respond to You, as though I am greater than
You...”

Ethical
Discourses – Volume One
Lectures

Translated

When
the Noble Qur’an introduces the topic of purification of
the soul and self-building, it states that the task of
conveying this guidance to humanity and assisting them on
the path is reserved for the one whom himself is at the
pinnacles of perfection and spiritual purity - an honour
which belongs to the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad
al-Mustafa. Perfecting our inner-core is so important that
Allah deems the one who is able to excel in this arena as
being the most successful person; while the one who fails
to attain inner purification is considered as the most
unfortunate of individuals!
Therefore,
if we wish to follow the Islamic injunctions and work
towards self-building and purification of the soul, we
must refer to the Qur’an - the source of guidance for
humanity, and the traditions of the Prophet Muhammad and
his directly and explicitly appointed successors - the
leaders from the Ahlu’l Bayt - the living manifestation
of the Qur’anic teachings.
This
work contains forty discussions on self-building from the
eminent scholar, Ayatullah al-‘Uzma al-Hajj Shaykh Nasir
Makarim Shirazi. The words of admonition in this book are
geared towards those who wish to lead their lives under
the shadow of the Qur’an and the practical example of
the Prophet Muhammad and his Ahlu’l Bayt as it is
through emulating their lifestyle and enacting their
teachings and guidance that we are able to reach to great
heights of spiritual awareness and success in this life
and more importantly, the next.
