Shaykh Saleem Bhimji,was born in Fort Rae, NWT, Canada. After completing his secular studies in the field of electronics in Edmonton, Alberta, he and his wife began their Islamic studies in the Imam al-Asr Theological Seminary (Hawza) in Medina, New York and then shifted to the Theological Seminary (Hawza `Ilmiyyah) of Qum, Iran.  Shaykh Saleem has worked on and off for 3 years with the Islamic Humanitarian Service [www.al-haqq.com] as a Muballigh, translator, graphic artist and web-designer and also runs his own organization, Al-Fath Al-Mubin Publications [www.al-mubin.org] dedicated to the translation and publication of books and articles on a wide variety of topics – with over 300 works on his site! In addition, he also manages his own publishing house for Islamic literature - The Islamic Publishing House [www.iph.ca] which has thus far published five books with six more on the way, including Sunanun Nabi by the late Allamah Sayyid Muhammad Husayn Taba’taba’i. Some of his translations into English include: Secrets of the Hajj; A Mother’s Prayer; Introduction to the Science of Tafseer of the Qur`an; Commentary of the 29th Section of the Noble Qur’an; and The Islamic Moral System: A Commentary of Suratul Hujurat 

Brother Hassanain Rajabali Br. Hassanain Rajabali is the Principal of the Tawheed Institute of New York. Br.Hassanain came to settle in the USA in 1975, emigrating from Tanzania, East Africa. He is a popular speaker locally, and has traveled worldwide to lecture on Islam. He is also a frequent lecturer on Islam at various universities in the USA and abroad. He has a masters degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Colorado, and presently, he owns and runs an Internet company called Netsite Corporation which specializes in E-Commerce and E-Business.

Some specialties of Br. Hassanain Rajabali is the two debates which occurred in the year 2004 & 2003, on the topic "Does God Not Exist". These two successful debates can be found on internet.


Brother Khalid Haneef-Jabari, Poet, essayist, lecturer, and long time black organizer/activist.  Brother Khalid has been involved in the struggle a long time;  organized trips to the grave site of Al Hajj Malik Al Shabazz for a  number of years; instrumental in bringing both Sister Ella Collins (the sister of Malcolm X, who sponsored his trip to Hajj) and Imam Jameel Al Amin to Toronto.  Constantly working to unite the black struggle with the universal cause of Islam, in the spirit of Al Haj Malik Al Shabazz, i.e. Organization of Afro American Unity and Muslim Mosque Inc and a luta continua, The Struggle Continues!!


Brother Joe Ramagli -Joe Ramagli is currently a master's candidate working with Dr. Idris Samawi Hamid on his thesis titled Islamic Liberation Theology at Colorado State University.  He graduated from CSU in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in Philosophy and Religious Studies with a minor in Asian Studies.  He has done various work in community building, environmental organizing, and was a campaign manager for a successful candidate in his local state house district in Colorado back in 2006.  Joe continues to work for human rights and social justice and hopes to continue his education by going to law school next year.  

Brother Robert Virden -Robert (Ali) Virden, President and Founder of Crescent Financial LLC ( and also .  In his most recent role prior to creating Crescent Financial LLC, Mr. Virden was Director, Eastern U.S., for Saturna Capital, the portfolio manager for the Amana Mutual funds. Born in Baltimore in 1965, Mr. Virden earned his B.S. in Finance at the University of Maryland. He has more than 20 years experience in the investment industry with firms including Merrill Lynch, UBS Financial Services, Salomon Smith Barney and Legg Mason Wood Walker.  Of particular note, he has appeared on a short film which aired on United Airlines Flights about IRA's, beneficiary designations and required mandatory distributions and has been quoted in several noteworthy newspapers during turbulent market periods.

Robert is a member of the University Club of Washington DC and the National Capital Lyme Disease Association, U.M.A.A. and the Muslim Congress, attending their annual conferences as well as having attended ISNA, MAS, and ICNA conferences.  Residing in Potomac, MD, Robert (Ali) coaches youth lacrosse and plays for the Capital Masters Lacrosse Club. A convert to Islam, he has a passion for studying, learning, and teaches a class at the Muslim Community School on business entrepreneurialism for high school students.

Brother Ulrich Vieux - Is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at Harvard Medical School with additional training in Adult Psychiatry and Family Practice. Br. Ulrich's expertise is working with at risk adolescents.

Spiritually, he made Shahadah 12 years ago and chose to follow the school of Ahlul Bayt (as)  roughly 9 years ago after being introduced to Shiasm through Brother Hasnain Rajabali. HIs intention is to present the link between Mental Health and Islam and to share his experience as a Revert and as a professional who treats Muslims from all communities within the Ummah. Brother Muhammad Habash -Muhammad is the founder of the Thaqalayn Muslim Association, a nonpartisan university based student organization that currently has nine chapters in Canada and the United States. The aim of the organization is to... 

1) promote greater understanding of Islamic teachings, culture, and heritage in the context of a North American society while striving to develop peaceful elations amongst human beings through dialogue and engagement; and...

2) to nurture a cadre of servant leaders who exemplify excellence and are driven towards exporting this excellence by contributing towards the betterment of their community, society and humanity.

Born in London, Ontario and currently residing in Toronto, Muhammad completed his Hon. B.A in Philosophy ('04) with an interest in metaphysics, epistemology, political and Islamic philosophy. He later completed his Masters degree in Information Studies ('06) with an interest in knowledge management, community informatics, and the role of information in decision making. Currently he works as a project consultant in the IT industry.


Sister Arifa Hudda, Sister Arifa was born in East Africa and then migrated to Canada when she was only 9 months old.  All of her schooling was done in the city of Kitchener.  After high school she did a Medical Laboratory Technologist course in The Michener Institute in Toronto and then worked part time in a laboratory in Brampton, ON.  Immediately after marriage, her husband Shaykh Saleem and her proceeded to the Hawza in  Medina, NewYork and then to the holy city of Qum where they studied for four years. 

Upon her return to Canada in the year 2000, she translated and compiled some books, namely "A Mother's Prayer,"  "Forty Ahadith on the Holy Quran,"  "Tasbih of Sayyeda Fatima Zahra(AS)," "Morals of the Masumeen - an activity book for children" and some others.   At the moment she does some editing for other Islamic Literature, but she tries to devote most of her time to her family and 5 year old daughter.


Sister Latifa Samji was born in Zanzibar,  she grew up and attended school in Dar-es-Salaam , Tanzania. She migrated to Canada in 1985 and completed High School in Toronto. Latifa went on to complete one year of accounting but decided it was not for her. Sister Latifa enrolled in Howza Ilmiya Imam Al- Asr in Medina, N.Y and studied for 4 yrs. She then traveled to study in Iran Qom, in Jameat al- Zahra (S.A) for 4 yrs. Today Latifa continues her religious studies on line through Qom. She has a Diploma as a Social Worker and is currently working towards her Social Work Degree (Advance Standing Program) at Ryerson Univ. She provides training to main stream Health Care & Social Service Providers on cultural awareness and issues that affect Muslim families. Sister Latifa gives lectures locally and  has traveled to different cities to lecture about Islam and Women’s issues. Sister Latifa holds ongoing weekly classes in Toronto on the 40 Hadith of Imam Khomeini.

Sister Akilah Haneef-Jabari , Sister Akilah’s objective is to serve the interests of children by enriching family life through education and support. Sister Akilah has over 15 years experience in community and program development as a Certified Parent Educator. She has extensive experience within the development of “Cooperative Classrooms” & “Proactive Parenting” programs. Sr. Akilah is a certified Adult Educator/Staff Trainer (Graduated with Honours) and was also a trained abuse/violence prevention educator with the Canadian Red Cross. This sister has excellent presentation, Public speaking, coaching and mentoring skills

Sister Fatima Ali,  Sr. Fatimah is a 10th Generation Canadian, born and raised in Montreal. Allah (swt) "introduced" her to His deen through the penmanship of Alex Haley & the autobiography of Hajj Malik Al Shabazz (Malcolm X).  Sr. Fatimah reverted to Islam 1995  and has been a follower of the Ahlul Bayt (as) ever since.

She has a diploma in Special Care Counselling and is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature.  She also works full-time in the Quality Assurance Dept for a well-known cosmetic company.  Her spare time is spent doing community work in the Montreal Muslim community and presently she holds as Chairperson of a newly developed organization for Reverts and Canadian Muslims called, The Path of Light.

Sr. Fatimah resides in Montreal with her 11 year old son, Muhammad.

Sister Masooma Diana Beatty, was born, raised and resides in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She has a degree in physics and a masters degree in education.  She teaches mathematics and statistics at the high school level in the public education system.  Her conversion story was published by the World Islamic Network http://www.winislam.com/web/welcome.html a decade ago and is available online at http://www.al-islam.org/reflectionsnewmuslim. Sr. Roshni Hafeez, Born and Raised in a strict Christian family, Roshni Reverted to Islam when she was only 15 years old, and over the subsequent 11 years, has played an important role in a comprehensive range of Islamic and dawa activities, most recently, joining the board of Directors of RMA. A trained journalist, Roshni has worked for the BBC and a range of international broadcasters, as a producer, presenter and researcher. More recently though, Roshni has left the world of journalism and works mainly within a range of non-governmental projects, spanning equality and diversity training, policy development, environmental justice and leads on a range of projects tackling sectarianism for the Scottish government. Roshni is also the Scotland representative of Transatlantic 2020, (A British Council initiative designed to build and strengthen relations between the US and Europe post 9/11 and 7/7), and she is also vice chair of the Shia Council for Scotland.

 

As a visually impaired person, Roshni is especially passionate about improving access to Islamic knowledge for disabled Muslims. This year (2008) at the International Revert Conference, she will lead a unique workshop challenging perceptions of disability and empowering participants to take action in their local masjids and communities, she is also leading on a new interfaith project based in Scotland which will bring faith leaders together to tackle discrimination and poverty through spirituality.


Sister Shahin Pardhan

 

Sr. Shahin Pardhan was born in Brampton Ontario and moved to London Ontario 5 years ago.  She has both her Bachelor’s of Business Administration (BBA) and her MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University.  In Toronto, Shahin worked as an Assistant Brand Manager at a packaged goods firm for two years.  When she first moved to London she worked as a Research Coordinator for a nonprofit organization.  For the past 3½ years she has worked as a Senior Marketing Analyst at a leading financial institution in London.   

 

Shahin is regularly asked to speak about various topics such as diversity, volunteering and Islam at London functions.  She is the Interfaith Coordinator for the Al-Mehdi Islamic Centre and was the Chair of the United Muslim Women of Canada for two years.  She recently stepped down from her position as a board member for Regional Mental Health Care London’s volunteer association when she had her twin sons who are now almost 8 months old.  Shahin is also on the diversity committee at her place of work and organized a multicultural day celebration to bring awareness of the benefits of diversity in Canada.


Sister Maryam Shabani

 

Doctor Maryam Shabani embraced Islam in 1984 after conducting exhaustive research with the intention of proving Islam a false religion. Since that time, she has dedicated her self to the study of Qur’an and Ahadith. She has done extensive study involving the work of scholars from all schools of thought. She holds a Phd. in Metaphysical Theology and a Masters in Comparative Religion. She is an Islamic activist and Diyah ,speaking at masajids, universities, and community centers throughout the United States.



Master of ceremonies - Amin A. Toussaint, was born and raised in Brussels, Belgium where he attended the “Institut Catholique des Hautes Etudes Commerciales” a Top 3 Business School and obtained a Bachelor degree in Business Management and Foreign Affairs. Upon his graduation, Amin relocated to New York and enrolled in Pace University to pursue a Part Time MBA in Financial Management.  While pursuing his MBA, Amin worked for several prestigious International corporations such as American Express, Morgan Stanley and Lehman Brothers. Amin obtained his MBA in Financial Management in September 2001. Amin is currently working at Lehman Brothers where he is the CFO for the Fixed Income, Risk and Research Technology groups. Amin is also the founder and President of FINALIBRIUM Inc, a small Financial Consulting Services firm.

Amin has been a follower of the Ahlul Bait for close to 10 years. It was one of his friends in Belgium who first introduced him to Islam. He has been attending and participating in the “Tawheed Institute Madressa ever since”

Master of ceremonies - Jennah Heydari, Now living in Ontario, Canada with her husband and two children, Sr. Jennah originates from Montreal, Quebec. Jennah  briefly studied in marketing and then moved on to study  in the Arts and graphic design. Since 2005 she has taken part in various on-line Islamic study programs including,  Spring Education - Islamic studies program. Co-Operates, along with her husband, Nafe Heydari, a website and graphic design business, "An-Artistic-Design" as well as being the administrator and founder of the Revert Muslims Association, creating the organization in 2005.
